Careers. At Taylor and Fraser we are looking for people who have a passion for learning and a wish to contribute to and share in the continued success of the company. We are proud to have a long-standing directly employed staff. In fact, we have had people who have joined us aged 16 and stayed with us till their retirement aged 65! We work in conjunction with the HVCA's national training organisation BEST to select suitable candidates for a Modern Apprenticeship. Currently we have five young persons who are working towards an Apprenticeship. Taylor and Fraser supports the work that BEST undertakes and each year every apprentice in Scotland has the opportunity of winning the Taylor and Fraser Claret jug. This is awarded by BEST in the apprentices' final year to the First placed Fitter Welder. Regretfully, Claret is not included! Training and development is very much part of the modern Taylor and Fraser environment.
A training matrix is operated to provide accurate records of academic qualifications, course attendances and relevant certification. This matrix, along with ongoing staff appraisals and liaison, is used to identify individual training needs and manage appropriate training arrangements for the future.
